Grant Spending & New Disabled Toilet

As you will recall Evergreens Miniature Railway gained a grant award back in the beginning of August to facilitate disabled access to Evergreens and onto the 71/4″ gauge trains.

We have not been standing still and this is an update on progress so far with the disabled access project.

After discussions and renewing of quotes –

The disabled carriage has been ordered from Denver Light Railway, and they estimated completion time is before Christmas.

The disabled toilet is here, placed next to our two existing toilets.

The station canopy – the metal sheeting for the roof, screw piles for the foundations and the timber for the frame have been ordered and will arrive on 3rd October. The Lincolnshire CoOp are kindly providing volunteers to work alongside members for that day, any other help would be appreciated.

Construction on the canopy will start on the 3rd Oct and should take (depending on the weather) about three weeks. Any assistance on this work would be appreciated, work will be taking place over all days of the week (again depending on weather). This means it should be inplace in time for our Santa Special at the end of November.

Materials for the paths and possible construction of them are under negotiation.
